ISTER - Bulgaria Economic Forum presented the ISTER project during the National Conference "Cultural Heritage of Bulgaria and Europe - Present and Future"

Conference "Cultural Heritage of Bulgaria and Europe - Present and Future" took place on 21.01.22 in Vidin in hybrid format, organised by Bulgarian News Agency in partnership with the European Parliament. It was attended by MEPs, representatives of local and central administrations, scientists, and citizens.

The regional governor of Vidin, Lyuben Ivanov, welcomed the participants and stressed that his priority would be the creation of intensive communication and spiritual and cultural bridges between municipalities, districts, regions of neighbouring countries, with the active participation of the Bulgarian government. "The rich cultural and historical heritage is a precious resource, which is the basis for better dialogue between all participants in this process," said Mr. Ivanov.

Georgi Tabakov, Chairman of Bulgaria Economic Forum, presented the project "ISTER: ConnectIng hiSTorical Danube rEgions Roman routes" and actively participated in the discussions. Digitalisation, conservation and restoration, and the promotion of cultural and historical heritage are the highlights around which the participants united.

In conclusion, the director of the Bulgarian News Agency, Kiril Valchev, pointed out that we preserve our memory for ourselves, for our souls. The greatest goal of Europeans should be to constantly return to their roots, to this Christian Europe of values around which the European Union is founded, he said and expressed hope that some of the concrete ideas made during the conference would be discussed in the European Parliament.
