DANUrB+ - CULTURAL DIALOGUE IN THE GIURGIU-RUSE REGION

18-01-2022

On Tuesday 11th January, Romanian partner Association for Urban Transition (A.T.U.) took part in a meeting with international actors from the Giurgiu-Ruse region for the DANUrB + project. Regional History Museum „Teohari Antonescu" from Giurgiu organized a discussion with the association Euroregion Danubius (RUSE) which marked 20 years of activity this year. Several key stakeholders for the Giurgiu-Ruse transdanubian relationship were present at the meeting such as the director of the Danube Euroregion (RUSE) and honorary citizen of Giurgiu, the historians of the Regional History Museum „Teohari Antonescu" Giurgiu, the director of National Archives in Giurgiu and the director of Popular Arts School in Giurgiu.

The discussion agenda touched upon future ideas for highlighting the cultural dialogue between the two cities such as:

  • Two exhibitions that will follow in February and March;
  • A proposal for a photo project and a tourist route promoted through a digital and analog map of the urban connection points between the two cities;
  • Two concerts performed in partnership with the choir from Ruse and the choir from Giurgiu.

Discussions and collaboration with actors from international projects are key to enhancing heritage along the Danube through new initiatives. Following this meeting, this year we will enter into a direct dialogue in Giurgiu with a symbolic neighborhood of the city and its community to explore the potential of the rich heritage it has: historical, natural, and industrial. Giurgiu will again be the place of a series of participatory activities in 2022 aimed at bringing the community together around the heritage of the city.
