InnoSchool - 2nd InnoSchool Days Seminar in Bulgaria

The 2nd InnoSchool Seminar, dedicated to the InnoSchool pilot and the achievements of the participating students, teachers and schools, took place on the 17th of May in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. The physical event was organized by Business Incubator – Gotse Delchev, supported by Regional Department of Education – Blagoevgrad and was attended by representatives of secondary schools, students, teachers, educational institutions, media, and guests.

Natasha Zarankova, InnoSchool Coordinator for Bulgaria, spoke about the InnoSchool project and the results from the pilot training in Bulgaria, which was conducted during the first term of the school year 2020 – 2021 in eleven secondary schools from Blagoevgrad region. 291 students successfully completed the InnoSchool pilot. The impact study showed that they developed their entrepreneurial thinking, skills and behavior. Over 95% have increased their understanding of the nature of social entrepreneurship and 82% of the students are likely to recommend the innovative InnoSchool education system.

The Final InnoSchool competition was held online earlier this year and it showcased the positive aspects of the pilot: fresh, hearty, practical social business ideas developed during the pilot training by the students’ teams. The official award ceremony of the winners of the Final InnoSchool competition became part of the InnoSchool Day 2. Rositsa Dzhambazova, Director of Business Incubator - Gotse Delchev and Ivaylo Zlatanov, Head of Regional Department of Education - Blagoevgrad, presented special plaques, books and diplomas to the winning teams:

Beginners:

  • 1st place - Social Circle Team - 11b grade, PGIT "Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov ”, Petrich for Training guide dogs for the blind;
  • 2nd place - Team 11th grade, PGTLP "Gotse Delchev", Blagoevgrad for Restaurant with zero waste and healthy food;
  • 3rd place – Team 1, 9th grade, NPG "Dimitar Talev", Gotse Delchev for Path to the Nature;
  • 3rd place – Team 4, 11th grade, 5th Secondary School "G. Izmirliev ”, Blagoevgrad for IT recycling and services

Advanced:

  1. 1st place – Team MDM, 11th grade, PGIT "Prof. Dr. As. Zlatarov”, Petrich for Rural Tourism in Gabrene;
  • 2nd place – Team1, 10th grade, NPG "Dimitar Talev", Gotse Delchev for School of Talents

Teachers' Award:

  • Team 3, 9th grade, ZPG “Kliment Timiryazev”, Sandanski for Solar Farm

Recognition and certificates were given to all pilot schools, pilot teachers and the teams, which qualified for the Final competition. Also, students and teachers, who participated in the pilot, shared their experience, and said that InnoSchool has brought positives results for their development and would support its inclusion in the educational curriculums.
