01-10-2020

As part of the 2nd Amazon of Europe Bike Trail International Biking Festival, a cycling event called "PATHS OF THE DRAVA RIVER" was held in Varaždin County.

The main goal of the cycling event was to introduce the local population to the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project and the Varaždin county section of the international cycling route that passes on gravel roads along the old course of the Drava River not far from the city of Varaždin.

The event, sponsored by Varaždin County and the Varaždin County Tourist Board, began with a gathering of 30 participants who took a detour route through the old town to visit the must-see locations of Stari Grad Castle and Traditional Crafts Square.

A short photo break was taken at the locations, after which the cycling continued towards six kilometers away Drava River and the natural must-see sites.

At the "Cirkovečka" site, which is located on the pebble bank of the Drava River, there was a three-hour refreshment break, a short vocal presentation of the project, interviews for journalists and TV crews, and swimming and enjoying in the clarity of the Drava River.

Interviews and a presentation of the project concept were given by the director of the tourist board and advisor for regional development and European affairs of Varaždin County.

An additional good vibe was provided by the local adventure agency with the presentation of rafting equipment and SUP activities that the participants were happy to engage in.

Leaving the soothing sounds created by the nearby water cascade, the participants of the bike event continue towards the educational trail in the Drava park forest and towards the Drava swimming pools site, where, in the on-site restaurant they are greeted with a well-deserved lunch.

The entire event was organized in accordance with the epidemiological recommendations of the Civil Protection Headquarters due to the Covid-19 situation.
