SIMONA - Serbians celebrated the Danube Day with a series of creative workshops

12-07-2019

The central celebration of the Danube Day in Serbia was held in Belgrade on June 15th 2019. Creative workshops were the main activity at the celebration and children could participate. They could learn the characteristics of the riverbed from the spring to the mouth. Sediment transportation was presented in a picturesque way. They could also hear about the water and sediment quality and why it is important for the aquatic world. Children were encouraged to paint stones with messages and by placing them in the river transformed them into 'water mail', sent out to the downstream countries.

During the celebration the projects of Interreg Danube region Programme, in which Serbian Institute for Development of Water Resources “Jaroslav Černi” takes an active part, were presented. Besides our project SIMONA, they are actively engaged also in projects Danube Sediment, Danube Floodplain, JOINTISZA and Camaro-D.
