SIMONA - ATTENDED THE 1ST PERIODIC MEETING IN VIENNA

06-02-2019

On Feb 4, the Geological Survey of Austria, as team partner of SIMONA, participated in the Dareffort Capitalisation Event at the Ministry of Sustainability and Tourism in Vienna, Austria. Approximately 50 participants took part in the meeting. The event was organized to share mutual experiences on, and strengthen cooperation between, DTP projects DAREFFORT, DanubeSediment, Danube Floodplain, CAMARO-D and JOINTISZA. Presentations on these projects were given. The discussions focussed on possible collaboration and exchange of knowledge and resources.

Among these DTP projects, SIMONA overlaps scientifically mostly with DanubeSediment as both projects investigate river sediments – DanubeSediment investigating suspended sediment quantities and SIMONA focussing on suspended and bottom sediment quality. In terms of project duration, the two projects overlap since the start of SIMONA (summer 2018) and until the end of DanubeSediment (summer 2019). Possibilities to exchange experience, data or even sample material, were discussed between the Geological Survey of Austria and the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences (both situated in Vienna).
