The 10th International Conference on dementia (ASK) at the University of Ljubljana, 28th-29th of September provided an excellent opportunity to present the INDEED project to the general public, to social entrepreneurs and dementia experts in a country where the pilot actions are planned to take place in 2020. The conference was organised by SpominĨica - the Slovenian Alzheimer’s association.

The audience was welcomed by Alexander Kurz, University Hospital of Technical University of Munich. He presented the INDEED objectives and the intervention package with the three modules CAMPUS, CONNECT, COACH, as well as the envisaged blended learning format. Speakers then illustrated the course of implementation for national dementia plans in Europe and Slovenia:

Dementia in Europe: a snapshot on communalities and disparities
Charles Scerri, vice president of Alzheimer Europe

Slovenian dementia plan with a focus on institutional capacities
Štefanija Zlobec, president of SpominĨica

This part of the programme was followed by presentations by four INDEED project partners:

Dementia as a social priority
Zvezdan Pirtošek; University of Ljubljana

The role of social entrepreneurship in dementia care

Christian Schober, Katharina Weberberger; Vienna University of Economics and Business

The strategy of INDEED

Lea Pfäffel, University Hospital of Technical University of Munich

Another highlight of the public event was a roundtable on the planned INDEED pilot actions. It enabled an exchange of experiences between INDEED project partners and local conference participants. The discussion of participants from academia, care practice and businesses initiated a cooperation with regional actors who may participate in the pilot actions that will be held in Slovenia. The three modules CAMPUS, CONNECT and COACH, as well as their evaluation during the pilot actions were met with great interest by the audience. During the lively debate, attendees shared their ideas in order to adapt the upcoming pilot actions to their specific local needs.
