The kick-off event of the project Fostering Innovation in the Danube Region through Knowledge Engineering and IPR Management (KnowING IPR) took place on 25th October 2018 at the Faculty of Information Studies in Novo mesto, Slovenia.
The aim of KnowING IPR is to improve the framework conditions for innovation in the Danube region by developing a transnational KnowING IPR platform. This platform will provide an open access tool for advanced intellectual property rights (IPR) analysis, and guidelines for improved and harmonized IPR policy framework across the Danube region.
3 international keynote speakers (Dolores Modic, Dalibor Fiala, Markus Abel) emphasized the importance of Intellectual Property Rights in the context of the knowledge society. Additionally, at the kick-off event there were organized several round tables with the topic of Challenges of IPR in the automotive industry and with university spinoffs. Also, official promotional video for the project KnowING IPR was presented at the beginning of Kick-Off event.
Dolores Modic, one of the keynote speakers, said: "For KnowING IPR partners, this was an excellent opportunity to build personal contacts. Other participants had their first contact with what this project in the field of information technology, intellectual property and technological transfer can bring to different stakeholders. Presentation of already completed work, has also demonstrated fruitful cooperation between experts from different institutions, countries and fields."
On 26th of October all partners of the KnowING IPR consortium met during the first Steering Committee Meeting (SCOM), where a number of important aspects of the project were discussed: Project Management, Communication Activities, Real-Life IPR Data, Interaction Services, Training&KnowING Hub, Pilot & Evaluation. The meeting was also a good basis for partners from the consortium to get to know better each other.
