Dear ISTER partners and friends,

To keep you up to date with the ISTER project, in this fifth edition of our e-newsletter, we bring to your attention six articles written by ISTER partners on project progress, non-scientific and final publications and presentations on three of our consortium partners.

 

Our Roman Heritage in the Danube Region – ISTER Consortium Meeting in Veszprém

 
 

Between 13-15 September 2022, the Municipality of Veszprém hosted the international team of the ISTER project, about 40 representatives of 15 partner organisations from 8 countries came to Hungary. It was an exciting opportunity to look at the city’s values and surroundings. The three-day meeting achieved its aim, the planned and hoped-for professional progress was made, and the participants could better know next year's European Capital of Culture and its region as the delegations visited Baláca and Balatonfüred in addition to Veszprém.

Final publication of the project ISTER

 

 

 

The ISTER project's final publication summarises the entire consortium's two-year effort. In the richly illustrated edition, you can find information about the project's outputs, developments and tools aimed at the relevant target groups, along with specific activities like aerial photography, field trips and excavation work, ISTER International Best Practices Awards and Small-scale investment.

The publication is a certificate for the excellent work done by each ISTER consortium partner.

Archaeological parks in urban areas as a tool for local, sustainable development

 
 

ISTER's second non-scientific publication explores the topic of archaeological parks in urban areas as a tool for local, sustainable development. It introduces the rich Roman archaeological heritage of Ptuj and the development of the new brand "Arheološki park Poetovio" (Archaeological Park Poetovio).

The city of Veszprém participation in the ISTER project

 

 

 

The city of Veszprém is participating in the ISTER project with an Associated Partner (Laczkó Dezső Museum). The municipality maintains the institution and provides the necessary professional background for the city in the project. It is a regional museum collecting, preserving, and disseminating the heritage of County Veszprém in five main fields, corresponding to its main collections: Archaeology, Ethnography, History, Art, and Numismatics.     read the article

BOKU / IRUB role in the ISTER project

 
 

BOKU was founded in 1872 as an Imperial-Royal University of Soil Science and is one of Europe's leading Life Science universities today. The University makes vital contributions toward preserving, developing and protecting the environment and quality of life - locally and globally, for today and future generations.

Scientific-research centre Bistra Ptuj

 
 

The ISTER project is in line with the development strategy of the city of Ptuj, which the Scientific-research centre Bistra Ptuj represents. There are still many unexplored potentials within the city which offer the possibility of development of cultural tourism, and much research on the history of Ptuj is still needed. This project allows us to research cultural heritage with foreign experts’ help and present it with the transfer of good practices to the city visitors.   read the article
