Since the last newsletter so much has happened for the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail and we want to keep you in the loop! We have been promoting out flagship project across Europe, we are following through on planned activities, such as finalizing the nature-oriented route and finalizing the tourism product. The Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project aims to establish a flagship tourism product in the planned 5-country UNESCO Biosphere Reserve “Mura-Drava-Danube” that will span through Austria, Slovenia, Hungary, Croatia, and Serbia.

Belgrade, Serbia - The Regional Development Agency of Slavonia and Baranja ltd. for international and regional cooperation presented the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project at the Belgrade Tourism Fair 2019, alongside with other tourism products in the Danube region. STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING AND STUDY VISIT

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Nagyatad, Hungary – From 23rd to 25th January 2019, the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail partnership met in for the 2nd Steering Committee Meeting and Study Visit of the area. Two days were packed with working on all project work packages, with presentations and group workshops, needed for the next steps in the project. OFFICIAL AWARDING OF UNESCO'S MAN AND BIOSPHERE CERTIFICATES TO THE MAYORS OF THE MURA BIOSPHERE RESERVE

Velika Polana, Slovenia - On 22nd & 23rd January 2019, the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail partnership attended the Official event where the Mayors of the Mura Biosphere Reserve were awarded the UNESCO's Man and Biosphere Certificates. This Certificate is a very important step in the formation of the future 5-country Biosphere Reserve "Amazon of Europe", where our Amazon of Europe Bike Trail will be located and we are proud to have been part of this historic event. STAKEHOLDER WORKSHOP “POSSIBILITIES OF CYCLOTOURISM DEVELOPMENT IN VIROVITICA -PODRAVSKA COUNTY"

On January 18, 2019, at the Informative Educational Center-Hostel Dravska priča, a workshop was held as part of the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project, implemented under the Interreg Danube Transnational Program, entitled "Possibilities of cyclotourism development in Virovitica - Podravska County". Strengthening the regional economy, additional education for the local population on sustainable tourism and the importance of conservation of protected areas, will be achieved through direct involvement of all relevant stakeholders, the aim of this workshop as well as the Amazon of Europe Bike Trail project.
