coop MDD - BIOBLITZ - 24 Hours with River Mura

Veržej, Slovenia - Institute for Nature Conservation Slovenia (ZRSVN) carried out the first local event in the framework of the “coop MDD” project. The event “BIOBLITZ - 24 Hours with River Mura” aims to raise awareness for conservation of biodiversity and the importance nature conservation has for the general public and quality of life.

A total of 46 organizations, along with more than 400 kindergarten and school children as well as locals, participated at the event and spent 24 hours along the river Mura. Number of thematic experimental and creative workshops were carried out, guided walks research, guided field excursions and lectures about the biodiversity, uniqueness and beauties of the Mura River.

ZRSVN also organised creative workshop in which children painted river stones and wrote messages on them about why they love rivers. The stones with the messages will be used to make the “Amazon of Europe” mosaic on the International kick-off event in Hungary next month.
