The Kick-off meeting of the project DIONYSUS - INTEGRATION OF SMART AND SUSTAINABLE MULTIMODAL AND INTERMODAL TRANSPORT CHAINS IN THE DANUBE REGION took place on October 8th gathering more than 117 representatives from Danube region: fleet operators, ministries, regional and local authorities, companies, Chambers of Commerce and business support assosiations, as well as others interested in the development of transport on EU's inland waterways.

We would like to give special thanks to our keynote speakers, namely Mrs. Ana Leganel Project Officer of DIONYSUS from the Joint Secretariat of the Danube Transnational Programme, Mrs. Cristina Cuc from the Romanian Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communication, representing the EUSDR Priority Area 1a , Capt. Szalma Bela - Chairman of the Danube Ports Network Advisory Group,  Mr. Costel Stanca, General Manager of National Company Maritime Ports Administration SA Constanta, Mr. Zeljko Milkovic from the International Sava River Basin Commission Mr. Turi Fiorito from EFIP and Mr. Robert Rafael - General Secretary of Pro Danube International.

During the Kick-off Meeting have been introduced the partners of the DIONYSUS consortium, main work packages and activities as well as the tools for communication with the stakeholders until the end of the project. The upcoming events have been also presented.

The project’s main objective is to integrate the Danube Region into smart and sustainable, multi-& intermodal transport chains of cargo and passenger flows. An essential element is the development of the Danube Region’s river and seaports into smart, sustainable and better connected multi-& intermodal logistics hubs, as well as setting priority locations for industrial investment through EU funding & financing instruments.
