RADAR - #EUREGIONSWEEK Q&A SESSION: MODELLING THE FUTURE OF ROAD SAFETY USING A NETWORK-WIDE RISK ASSESSMENT

21-09-2020

We proudly announce that RADAR (Risk Assessment on Danube Area Roads) project will be- in cooperation with project SLAIN (Saving Lives Assessing and Improving TEN-T Road Network Safety)- a Partner in this year’s European Week of Regions and Cites. RADAR feat. SLAIN will host a Questions and Answers (Q&A) session, titled Modelling the future of road safety using a network-wide risk assessment’.

The session will be held online, via Zoom platform, on October 14 at 11.00 – 12:00 p.m. CET (Brussels time).

Road safety is a fundamental human right. While the number of road deaths continues to grow every day, it is often forgotten that the quality of road infrastructure plays an extremely important role in preventing road accidents.

To work towards the implementation of both the United Nations and European Commission goals on road safety and especially supporting authorities on the network-wide road safety assessment requirements of the new Directive 2019/136, a systematic approach to safer road infrastructure is needed.

RADAR and SLAIN projects are modelling a safe future by offering innovative approaches that identify high-risk roads, consider infrastructure safety improvements, and propose the best cost-benefit solutions available using a methodology of network-wide risk assessment. The international methodology is compatible and accepted by the updated European Directive and other International Organisations (WHO, World Bank).

BUT how does this methodology work? How do you design a safe road infrastructure? How can you identify risk on roads? How do you propose an economically viable crash countermeasure?

Find out your answers in our Q&A session dedicated to saving lives on roads by modelling a safe future of road safety. Because every life counts!
