Danube Floodplain - Second Year Review and Project Meeting

The Second Year Review and Steering Committee meeting took place on 9-10 June 2019, this time on Zoom, due to the emergency situation caused by Covid-19. Similarly to last year, it was a joint event that focused on the progress of the activities, their timely implementation and the related spent and validated costs, the progress towards the project objectives and output targets, management and communication of the project, potential risks, problems, delays and their possible solutions, a realistic forecast for the rest of implementation.

The 3rd project meeting aimed to know in detail the status of the project implementation and the technical and legal difficulties encountered by the partners to develop some activities; to reschedule some activities, to harmonize the technical approaches in view of further steps.

Besides technical issues project partners evaluated the progress of the project in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. The new homepage of the project results has been presented by the University of Szeged. On this homepage it possible to browse and download maps for all designated active and potential floodplains and its evaluation.

Partners also developed recommendations for floodplain assessment on tributaries and implemented methodology. This and the results and the experience gained will be used as a basis for the development of a national methodology for floodplains evaluation.
