The International Day of the Danube is celebrated on 29th June, accordingly several cities and several countries join this event with various cultural and sport programs. In Hungary and Slovakia we joined the international event last year and this year as well with a series of programs called ‘Danube Days’ within the frames of the Interreg DANUrB – Danube Urban Brand – project. The cities of Esztergom on Friday 28th June and Štúrovo on Saturday 29th June are waiting for the participants with a variety of programs.

There is a series of diverse events celebration at the anniversary of the world’s most international river in every country along the Danube on 29th June. Like Esztergom (HU) - Štúrovo (SK) twin-towns, and Ráckeve (HU) and its region ’Szigetzug’ host the DANUrB Danube Days supported by the EU - funded DANUrB project. During the Danube Days a number of programs move to the riverside organised jointly by the DANUrB project and the civic communities of the cities aimed at bringing people closer to the Danube. The event promotes a number of children and youth programs, various water and land games, and it also offers the opportunity to initiate discussions between local organizations and other interested target audience. An important aim of the program is to strengthen the cultural identity of the regions along the Danube through creating a comprehensive cultural network. In accordance with the project the aim of the Danube Days series of events is to draw attention to local cultural values and heritage through linking existing programs and by fostering further co-operation.
On June 28th – Esztergom (HU) – the visitors can see the DANUrB Travelling Exhibition than join the family programs of the riverside from 13-18.00. As a special adaptation we will have an ’Open Garden’ program in Esztergom, where private and historic gardens will reveal their secrets. Prallel the open professional conference of DANUrB project in Komarno.
On June 29th - Štúrovo (SK) – visitors can experience activites related to the Danube between 15-19.00, and celebrate the Danube Day with a series of concerts on a ’river’ stage. At the same time this will be the closing ceremony of the DANUrB project.
From 28-30th June on Ráckeve (HU) and its region „Szigetzug” a strong collaboration was formed between 3 cities in the frame of Danube Days, with a series of family, sport and cultural events.
Join us, let us celebrate the anniversary of the Danube River connecting 8 countries together! Let us meet in Komarno, Esztergom – Štúrovo or Ráckeve!
