InnoSchool - First InnoSchool Advisory Group Meeting in Belgrade, Serbia

30-05-2019

Regional  Agency  for  Development  and  European  Integration  (RADEI)  Belgrade  hosted its first Advisory Group (AG) meeting on May 27, 2019 in Belgrade, Serbia.

The  Advisory  Group  was  established  with  an  aim  to  contribute  to  development  of  the innovative InnoSchool Learning System (ILS). Members of the Serbian Advisory Group are representatives of key educational national policy bodies responsible for primary and high schools’ curriculum development, civil service organizations that are actively engaged in promotion and development of (social) entrepreneurship in schools, SMME and  entrepreneurship  sector  from  RADEI  and  students  and  teachers  from  three Belgrade high-schools.

Lively  discussion  led  to  numerous  interesting  and  valuable  insights,  particularly  in terms of the Game development segment, which the Advisory Group members thought was the key 'attractiveness' factor of the ILS. In order to appeal to students, the Game should be 'interesting' and highly 'engaging', feature complex and difficult story-telling levels, with a reward at the end that would be the core motivating factor, especially when it comes to the planned interschool competition.

Another focus of the Advisory Group’s dialogue was training of teachers on using the ILS. Key suggestions focused on inclusion of teams of teachers in the training, (e.g. three per participating school) and exploration of opportunities for training certification in cooperation with the Ministry of Education as a way of motivating teachers who will be dedicating their time to participate in the ILS Pilot implementation.

The AG members also shared their thoughts regarding the Open Call for schools that will be applying for the ILS Pilot as of June 2019 and provided important information related to schools’ engagement and participation. During the course of the meeting and with agreement of all members, the Evaluation Committee for selection of schools for the Pilot was established, comprising of 3 AG (voting) members and 2 RADEI InnoSchool project team members.

The next meeting is scheduled to be held during Fall 2019.
