EcoInn Danube - The European Chemicals Agency wants to ban the majority of microplastics

07-02-2019

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) proposed new legislation that would ban 90% of currently used microplastics. If the European Union adopts it, it could radically reduce the amount of plastic waste polluting in our environment.

Microplastics are contained in cosmetics, detergents, paints or fertilizers. European countries release to the nature every year about 40 000 tonnes of microplastics. That is totally unsustainable!

The European Commission (EC) will have now 3 months to take an opinion and if possible, for preparing new legislation to this problematic.
