On 16 January 2019, ENERGY BARGE and the modal shift platform (www.energy-barge.eu) were presented by Ann-Kathrin Kaufmann from our project partner BioCampus Straubing GmbH in front of European biomass experts at the ACI Biomass Trade Summit Europe 2019 in Rotterdam, Netherlands.

The focus of the presentation was on potentials for the biobased industry and energy and sustainable logistics in the Danube macro-region. Participants gave positive feedback and showed high interest in the project. Overall, the conference contributions agreed that bioenergy demand is on the rise across the globe, raising the needs for homogeneous and transparent sustainability regulations and secured, but sustainable supply of feedstocks – good news for ENERGY BARGE! Also, the Danube region was well represented: besides ENERGY BARGE, Marijan Kavran from the Croatian Wood Cluster and Christoph Pfemeter from the Austrian Biomass Association held up the banners for the bioeconomy along the Danube.
