23-02-2017
CityWalk project started on 1 December 2016. Project helps cities in the Danube Region to reduce emission, noise and to become safer, better places to live, by increasing the role of more sustainable forms of mobility in the urban transport mix, especially active transport forms – like walking and biking. 17 partners cooperate for on the main focus of the project: to improve the key conditions of walkability.
The first important public event was the Kick-off meeting, which took place between 7th-8th February 2017 in Szeged, hosted by First Hungarian Responsible Innovation Association (FHRIA). The host partner members were Dr. Miklós Lukovics, Beáta Udvari, Petra Szűcs, and Noémi Vizi. The participants of the meeting learned good practices and measuring tools of walkability (presented by Petra Szűcs) and old-new trends in urban mobility (presented by Béla Kézy). It was also discussed how we could transform the current places to enjoyable ones and to sustainable urban mobility actions including cycling in Szeged (presented by Dr. Gábor Dávd Kiss). Ana Leganel, project officer from Joint Secretariat of Danube Transnational Programme, has also shown her interest and support towards DTP by attending the CityWalk project kick-off meeting.
After the presentations, a sightseeing tour was organized in the downtown of Szeged by the FHRIA. The tourist guide showed the most famous places - for example the Dóm, Széchenyi Square, River Tisza, and told some information about their history.

The first day was closed by a Traditional Hungarian Eve, with fish soup of Szeged, cottage cheese and pasta with sour cream and Gundel pancake. The guests were entertained by a band playing traditional music. The aim of the evening was to help the partners get to know each other more. There were some funny tasks including puzzle of Szeged famous places, storytelling about their history, team singing with the Hungarian mentors.

On the second day, the first Steering Committee took place and the partners discussed the details of the project implementation, next steps and the most important questions which emerged in this period. Lead Partner informed the partners about the process of implementation and the common duties. Informations presented were precise and detailed. Next meeting will be held in Belgrad, at the beginning of June.
