AgriGo4Cities - AgriGo4Cities 5th project partners meeting in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria

The project partners of the project from Interreg Danube Transnational Programme, AgriGo4Cities, gathered together for the 5th meeting in the city of Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria. The two-day meeting took place on the 23rd and 24th October 2018 and was organized by the Association of South-Western Municipalities (ASWM) from Bulgaria.

During the first day of the meeting, each of the territorial partners presented their action plans and then discussed with the rest of the partners about the final conference that will take place in Budapest, which will be held by the Central Transdanubian Innovation Agency from Hungary. Also, during this day there was organized some activities in order to get to know better the other partners, such as a World Café and a networking dinner with a little surprise for the members, who had the chance to learn some Bulgarian dance steps with the help of professional Bulgarian dancers.

On the second and last day of the meeting, the partners had the chance to do three different study visits around Blagoevgrad. The first study visit they did was to a flower garden managed by a social enterprise run by the municipality of Biostroy, this garden employs people with low education, unemployed, and vulnerable groups, such as Roma people; the second study visit was to a winter garden established in a Day Care Centre for children with special needs, thanks to this garden the children from the Day Care Centre can use the plants grew on the garden for therapeutic purposes; and the last study visit was in a peri-urban area from Blagoevgrad, where the local partner established an experimental garden, the children from the Day Care Centre are expected to be some of the users of this garden along with elderly people and other vulnerable groups; the plan for this garden was elaborated jointly during the Local Action Plan preparation in the first half of 2018.

Finally, to conclude the 5th AgriGo4Cities project partners meeting, the Bulgarian partner, who was responsible for the organization of the whole event, prepared a trip to visit Rila monastery, one of the most important sightseeing places in Bulgaria.
