The initial meeting of the DaRe to Connect project was held in the Nuremberg, Germany, on July 4-5. The host of the meeting was BUND Bavaria, the lead partner of the project. 25 persons represented 10 partner organizations from 7 countries participated in the meeting.
The main purpose of the meeting was to launch the project work and establish proper coordination of the project. Thus, the agenda was comprehensive. First, Dr. Liana Geidezis, the Head of BUND Department Green Belt, introduced the lead partner and described the Green Belt initiative and then working part of the meeting began.
Melanie Kreutz (BUND Bavaria) introduced the project, its context, goals and methods. The working package leaders introduced individual working packages and their initial steps and tasks: Peter Schulenkorf (Core-consult, Germany, on behalf of the lead partner) presented WP1 Project management, Ján Roháč (Ekopolis Foundation, Slovakia) described WP2 Communication activities, Prof. Dr. Thomas Wrbka (University Vienna, Austria) explained methods of WP3 Interconnected Green Belt and Amalia Raluca Dumbravă (Iron Gates Nature Park, Romania) presented WP4 Pilot actions. In addition, Richard Mergner, the Chairman of BUND Bavaria, visited the meeting and explained the mission and work of BUND Bavaria.
Each of the presentation was accompanied with discussion to clarify and explain details.
The meeting was not only about work but also about socializing of the project partners, of course. A guided tour of very nice historical centre of Nuremberg was provided and common lunches and dinners allowed a lot of debates about project topics as well as about wider themes.
Despite a holidays time the project is taking off and the kick-off meeting fully contributed to successful launch.
