CityWalk - Walkshop in the City of Stříbro

02-07-2018

After a period of public surveys and questionnaires the Regional Development Agency of the Pilsen Region made next step to involve the inhabitants of Stříbro in the discussion about walkability - the walkshop was carried out on Saturday, June 16.

Project partners from Czech Republic spent a sunny morning with several citizens of Stříbro walking and discussing possible changes to make the city more friendly to pedestrian. They walked around the city's most problematic places and areas from the view of a pedestrian. Their small group was accompanied by representatives of the town hall, city clerks and traffic specialists offering different points of view and solutions.

There were six different stops for discussion on the way - two crossroads with heavy traffic with lack of pedestrian crossing (Palackého and Soběslavova street, Benešova street), a pedestrian crossing and heavy traffic on the way to basic school, secondary school and kindergarten (Gagarinova and Třešňová street), a shortcut from one part of the city to another around a pond but with the barrier of steps, bus station with lot of unused space and lack of pedestrian way and finally a street leading to the central square with no or very narrow sidewalk (Husova street). The walk was very useful and brought the Regional Development Agency of the Pilsen Region different opinions to the problematic places.
