CityWalk - Jane's Walk in Ptuj: TRAVEL AND WAKE UP THE CITY
14-05-2018
“Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody,
only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.”
(Jane Jacobs)
CityWalk project partner ZRS Bistra Ptuj successfully organized Jane's Urban Walk in Ptuj on May 4, 2018. The event was attended by approximately 30 walkers who showed good will and contributed to "walkability" through the old town. The students of the Elementary School Olga Meglič responded to the invitation, adding their point of view and suggestions to the mosaic of ideas. Representatives of local and regional media also attended the walk. With the stories, comments, suggestions and initiatives, the participants presented their view at their everyday use of walking for various tasks, such as the route to school, shops, banks, sports areas, parks, tourist facilities and more.
The route of urban walks was purposefully chosen, since at this year's urban walks the organisers wanted to emphasize the importance of accessibility to various services (in the wider area of the city center), such as various shops, banks, pharmacies, as well as schools, kindergartens, post offices or health care one of the key factors for the promotion of walking. Walkers reviewed and evaluated the connection of this part of the city center with the tourism area.

In Slovenia there was so far carried out 31 walks in 23 cities, which is the most so far.
