CityWalk - Walkshops in Weiz for SMEs and primary school students
13-04-2018
The City of Weiz as project partner of the ERDF cofounded project CityWalk organized their first two Walkshops on April 5 and 6, 2018. Two different target groups - SMEs and primary school students - participated in the events.
On Thursday the first ever Walkshop in Weiz took place. Barbara Kulmer from the office for Environment and Mobility of the city of Weiz and Dieter Schwab from the Walk Space association invited companies from the shopping town of Weiz to the city town hall where they were able to present their concerns and ideas before taking a walk through the city together.

"Talking shoes" was the topic of the second Walkshop organised for the students of the 3B class of the local primary school in Weiz who were able to experience the city as experts for walkability. After an introduction of the topic the children explored the possibilities of dangerous traffic situations involvng pedestrians as well as the qualitative points in the Weiz city center.

In addition to existing offers and ongoing projects in Weiz, this urgent concern of the citizens will continue to be an important factor in urban design in the future. Attractive walking offers, which on the one hand stimulate the purchase in the city center, on the other hand increase the number of pedestrians and cyclists are indispensable for the optimization of the shopping town of Weiz. Weiz currently works on new ways to improve the traffic situation - in particular the walkability in the shopping city that benefits both the companies and the customers.
