CityWalk - Jane's Walk - walk, observe, connect

28-03-2018

CityWalk project helps cities in the Danube Region to become safer and better places to live by increasing the role of active transport forms – like walking. Therefore we decided once again to share a global festival on citizen-led walking tours with you.

Jane’s Walk is an annual festival of free, citizen-led walking conversations inspired by Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walks encourage people to share stories about their neighborhoods, discover unseen aspects of their communities, and use walking as a way to connect with their neighbors. Leaders share their knowledge, but also encourage discussion and participation among the walkers.

Walks take place in hundreds of cities around the world. Join the next global Jane’s Walk Festival on May 4 – 6, 2018!

Get involved in Jane’s Walk! Here is how you can organize a walk in your city.

A Jane’s Walk can focus on almost any aspect of a neighbourhood, and on almost any topic you can think of. Walks can be serious or funny, informative or exploratory; they can look at the history of a place, or at what’s happening there right now. In this way, the participants honour the legacy of Jane Jacobs whose writings championed the voices of local residents in neighbourhood planning. Anyone can lead a walk - because everyone is an expert on the place where they live!
