NETWORLD - Conference: Slovakia and the World War I

The international conference ”Slovakia and World War I” was held in the Slovak town of Kosice on 12th and 13th of October 2017 as an activity within the project NETWORKING IN PRESERVING THE FIRST WORLD WAR MULTICULTURAL HERITAGE IN THE DANUBE COUNTRIES (NETWORLD).

The conference took place in the premises of the State Scientific Library of Košice. Its aim was to educate the general public and especially young generation in the topic of the First World War. Experts from Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovenia presented historical facts and statistics dedicated to combat activities and  many personal stories, which described the effect of war on the lives of civils and long-term changes of the society and country as a whole. The second day of the conference included also stories presented in the memorial places.
