CHESTNUT - PBN's good practice of sustainable mobility

02-11-2017

In the Chestnut project, Pannon Business Network (PBN) is dealing with and analyzing the transport situation in Sárvár FUA. On 10th August in Sárvár, which is a popular touristic destination and the centre of the FUA, six e-bikes were implemented. In the framework of another project co-funded by the European Union and the Hungarian State, an Action Plan regarding low-carbon mobility is being prepared for Sárvár FUA. This Action Plan contains several useful information, so the local stakeholders can benefit from it. According to this Plan, the implementation of e-bikes in Sárvár was going to be not only sustainable and environmentally-friendly, but also they would contribute to healthy lifestyle and recreation, as well as it could help the local transport too.

In the implementation event in August eleven participants took place including the Mayor and Vice Mayor of Sárvár, the Vice President of Vas County Authority, and the managing director of the touristic agency who invested the e-bikes. The participants of the event could try the newly installed e-bikes, and the leadership of Sárvár with the help of the media encouraged visitors and the citizens of the city and the whole FUA to try this kind of transport. Traditional bike renting had already been available in Sárvár, but with this extension more and more people can use this sustainable means of transport. Both types of bikes can be rented at a low cost in the toursitic agency of Sárvár, so they are affordable for everyone. The implementation of these e-bikes could mean a good practice for sustainable mobility in the whole Sárvár FUA. According to statistics the e-bike renting is very popular among FUA citizens and tourists.
