EcoVeloTour - Transnational Market Research by UP

11-03-2021

Within the Interreg Project EcoVeloTour it was necessary to gather an overview about regional specifics and the touristic structure in the participating countries along the EuroVelo network that focused on cycle- and ecotourism. Therefore, CENTOURIS (University of Passau) developed a questionnaire with feedback of the EcoVelo project consortium to conduct an online survey with all project partners and their respective stakeholders from the different countries involved (Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary, Romania, Serbia and Slovakia). Participants ranged from tourism boards to administrative districts and further experts in the field of cycling and ecotourism.

Almost 120 experts from all seven countries answered the survey and attached further documents for deeper insights, containing information about the respective countries’ situation. Since the survey was conducted in spring 2019 and dealing with the perspective of expert planners and responsible authorities it is now continued and supplemented through a second survey. This second survey, which will be conducted in early summer 2021, explicitly takes the general populations attitude into account and of course deals with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the tourism sector.

For now, there are several results available, including individual findings from each of the countries and a benchmark and comparison of all countries that participated in the first survey.
