We would like to congratulate to Interreg-funded TRANSGREEN project for winning The International Natura 2000 Award!
Overall 16 partners from six Central and Eastern European countries have joined their forces and intensivelly worked on a manual for safe and environmentally-friendly road and rail transport to protect diverse habitats, fauna and flora in the region. Project experts concluded several tasks, amongst other activities they collected data, did joint field work in three selected pilot areas (Kysuce-Beskydy (CZ-SK), Arad-Deva (RO) and Tirgu-Iasi (RO)) and held many stakeholder meetings and seminars. Finally, they developed joint methodologies for monitoring collisions and road-kills and prepared the Guidelines for Wildlife and Traffic in the Carpathians which describes and recommends integrated transport infrastructure planning, construction, management and monitoring that take into account biodiversity conservation and minimise landscape fragmentation. Moreover, these guidelines are aimed to become a part of Carpathian countries policy.
