CityWalk Project finalist for the REGIOSTARS AWARDS 2019

9th July 2019-  After reviewing the 199 applications received, the high-level academics part of the jury announced the best projects to be the 24 finalists for the RegioStars Awards; within them also one of the DTP projects: CityWalk, aimed at establishing walkable cities in the Danube Region and to move towards energy responsible places. The project competes for the category, building climate-resilient cities.

    

Marianne Thyssen, the EU Commissioner for Employment, Social Affairs, Skills and Labour mobolity, Marc Lemaitre, Director-General for Regional and Urban Policy and Lambert van Nistelrooij former member of the European Parliament and Honorary Chair of the 2019 REGIOSTARS Jury held a speech during the ceremony presenting the finalists and handed the certificates to all project representatives.

Five main categories were involved, all of them crucial for the future of the EU regional cooperation

  • promoting digital transformation;
  • connecting the green, blue and grey;
  • combatting inequalities and poverty;
  • building smart-resilient cities;
  • modernising health services;

The awarding ceremony for each category, whose winners will be chosen by the jury, will take place October 9 2019 during the European Week of Regions and Cities. On the same day, another prize will be given: all the categories will compete together for the Regiostars Public Choice Award, here the general public will have the chance of voting its favourite project.
