COOP MDD - PROTECTING NATURE ACROSS BORDERS

PROTECTED AREAS FOR BETTER MANAGEMENT OF THE "AMAZON OF EUROPE"

Through the coop MDD project, we are working towards harmonization of Protected Areas management and development of a joint Management Programme for the future 5-country UNESCO Biosphere Reserve "Mura-Drava-Danube" (TBR MDD). This will guide our coordinated protection, restoration and education actions for many years to come, ensuring conservation of one of the most important European river corridors.

Please visit the website or download our project leaflet in English, German, Slovenian, Croatian or Hungarian language for more information.

PARTNERS MET IN SERBIA TO PLAN FUTURE ACTIVITIES

The 4th Steering Committee Meeting and Partner Workshop, held between 23-27 April in Sombor, Serbia was a great opportunity for intensive planning on future project implementation actions. Also, the meeting was a great chance for a walk and bike excursion in various nature locations in the future UNESCO TBR MDD area.  Meeting and workshops were fruitful for the whole coop MDD team with the outcomes of new ideas, plans and a positive boost for all partners. Find below also an extensive article about coop MDD of the Serbian Ecological Magazine Eko list, who used the chance to do interviews with project partners from all countries.

STUDY VISITS FOR A BETTER LOCAL ACTION PLAN

An interdisciplinary expert team from Slovenia went on two study visits to gain knowledge and share experiences. The first excursion took place in April where the team visited the Donauauen National Park and the nature reserve at Marchegg. In the following month, an expert team went to Carinthia to restoration sites on the Upper Drava River. The result of both excursions is support for a better local action plan which will be implemented on the Mura river.
