Extreme hydro-meteorological phenomenon in peri-urban areas: adaptation plan using green and blue/grey/hybrid risk prevention and reduction solutions

  • Project idea information

    Priority

Environment and culture responsible Danube region - Improve preparedness for environmental risk management

    Needs and challenges
(Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)

Peri-urban areas are knowing a continuous development and are highly exposed to extreme hydro-meteorological events. There is a strongly need for developing adaptation plans which are harmoniously integrating green, blue, grey and hybrid risk prevention and reduction solutions.

    Objectives
(main and specific objectives to be achieved)

The main objective is to increase the resilience of peri-urban areas against the extreme impact of climate changes.

    Main results and core outputs

6 villages from peri-urban areas will developed adaptation plans
handbook for local authorities including steps/ procedures for developing adaptation plans
handbook for regional authorities on how to support local authorities in developing their adaptation plans and how to integrate them in a regional plan

    Main foreseen activities

    WP1 Project management
    WP2 Communication and Dissemination
WP3 Peri-urban areas and climate changes
WP4 Green/blue/grey/hybrid risk prevention and reduction solutions

Innovative character of the project idea

The project will focus on peri-urban areas which have the greatest dynamic of development being severely affected by climate changes impacts and will emphasize the role of ecosystem services in managing extreme hydro-meteorological effects.
