(Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)The sustainable valorization of nobiliary heritage is difficult due to high preservation costs and lack of feasible business models. Local stakeholders need to be activated to stimulate integrated and interconnected development across the Danube area.

(main and specific objectives to be achieved)- Improve knowhow of regional policy makers with regards to heritage valorization for regional development
- Increase cooperation between local stakeholders
- Create common cultural tourism strategies for the Danube area
- Set up new business models
Main results and core outputs
-An annual Open Castle Day where visitors can experience castles in the entire Danube area
-A Danube network collaborating to promote local heritage
-An interregional policy learning platform on nobiliary heritage and tourism
-Regional business cases
Main foreseen activities
-Setting up regional work groups of public, private, educational and civil stakeholders
-Organising international meetings to exchange policy knowhow
-Setting up an international network to establish Open Castle Day
Innovative character of the project idea
Multidisciplinary and integrated approach to unused nobiliary heritage. Providing tangible and long term results for crossborder cooperation. Activating local groups and increasing public awareness of local heritage and the Danube connections.
