    Needs and challenges
(Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)

Countries along the Danube have a long tradition in winemaking, yet the lack of infrastructure and knowhow are impediments to harnessing their full potential. There is a need to reconnect the production to rural entrepreneurship and regional tourism.

    Objectives
(main and specific objectives to be achieved)

    - Improve wine policies by stimulating cooperation between authorities, wine producers and entrepreneurs.
    - Stimulate producers to exchange knowledge on improving process quality, obtaining certification and improving production facilities.

    Main results and core outputs

    - Toolkits for policy makers to support regional wine production and valorise wine as regional USP's.
    - A European knowledge exchange network on wine production.
    - Toolkits for local producers on obtaining certification and improving infrastructure.

    Main foreseen activities

    - Setting up regional wine consortia of policy makers, entrepreneurs and wine producers
    - Developing a knowledge exchange programme based on winemaking techniques and vineyards management.
    - Conference on the value of wine for regional development.

Innovative character of the project idea

The multidisciplinary approach addresses change in the production key chain - by improving quality and knowhow, the change will be sustainable and longer-lasting, eventually leading to improved image and tourism capacities in the areas.
