(Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)The climate changes determine the appearance of a number floods each one caused huge material damage, long-term economic difficulties, and affected negatively the normal functioning of the settlements. Due to its geographical profile, the Danube area is exposed to floods, often of impressive scale and frequency. Strengthen transnational cooperation by developing flood risk prevention information system will directly interlinked flood risks interpolation and prevention along Danube river priorities areas. The implementation of transnational information system will improve the preparedness for environmental risk management as well.
Objectives
(main and specific objectives to be achieved)The main objectives are relate to strengthen transnational cooperation by providing data for effective flood risk management and incorporating flood risk assessment into the decision making process.
Main results and core outputs
Modest flow between Danube regions for creation of functional and efficient communication channels.
Enhancing the precision of forecasting, the preparedness and capacity for intervention in a coordinated transnational way.
Establishment and running of reliable Flood management information system providing functionalities for presentation of flood hazard maps and flood risk maps for areas with potential significant flood risks, flood forecasting tools, development of scenarios for accurate and timely forecasts for flood risk management and protection and effective dissemination of flood forecast information and warning notifications.
Development of transnational strategies and action plans in order to manage the flood risk challenges using the forecast data, provided by developed transnational flood risk prevention information system.
Main foreseen activities
The main foreseen project activities are Research and examination; Defining and Development; Implementation and integration.
Innovative character of the project idea
Combining the transnational expertise, data and knowledge in to the development of innovative flood risk prevention information system.
