    Needs and challenges
(Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)

Historic city cores represent the most important part of the city's identity. Most of the historic city cores are dealing with the same problems - cultural heritage buildings decay, water and waste management as well as transportation problem arising in the distribution of goods in congested city cores. Regarding the importance of a good balance between tourism, preservation of cultural heritage buildings and sustainable economic growth, proposed solutions to these problems should be implemented in a way that takes into account their impact on all the above mentioned areas thus creating the path to make historic city core sustainable.

    Objectives
(main and specific objectives to be achieved)

Project partners will be divided into clusters (one city + tech partner) and every cluster will be dealing with the one of these addressed problems in the city cores (heritage buildings, sustainable urban mobility, waste management, water management). Sharing of experiences among partners will be the crucial benefit of this project. The aim is to bring together different stakeholders dealing with the protection of cultural heritage and with wider development strategies in order to develop joint and integrated approaches for making the historic city cores sustainable. Another way of our contribution to foster sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage and resources is to strive for the reduction of energy consumption and CO2 emissions and resources consumption through increased use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures as an integrated aspect of sustainable city cores development.
