    Needs and challenges
    (Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)

    The rapid introduction of ICT provided humanity with many new ways for entertainment, learning, working, etc. Many cultural institutions are fully utilizing these new technologies, but the majority are relying only on the old-fashioned methods. While the new generations are more adaptable to the trending new devices and services, the generations, which were born in the last century, are used to the technologies of that time. The gap between the generations is also strongly visible in terms of the visitors to the cultural organizations – the majority of them are from the generations born in the last century, while for the young people “there is nothing interesting to see there”!
    The cultural organizations are also very slowly embracing the introduction of the new technologies and one of the main reasons for this is the lack of funding for the purchase of high-quality equipment. There is however also one other, even more disturbing reason – the staff is not trained to work with the new technological solutions.

    Objectives
    (main and specific objectives to be achieved)

    The objective of the project is to provide the beneficiaries with the most recent technological solutions and services for preservation and promotion of the natural and cultural heritage in the Danube area. Photogrammetry using cameras and drones, 3D printers, 3D scanners, hologram displays, VR and AR solutions and other information systems will be purchased and used by the beneficiaries to both attract new visitors and to preserve and digitalize the fragile and perishable tangible and intangible natural and cultural heritage. All beneficiaries will also be trained to utilize the devices and services and this will guarantee for the long-term project sustainability. The most recent ICT technologies will be used to modernize the cultural institutions and to bring more visitors, especially from the digital generations, in the halls of these institutions. 3D mapping events will be used for the mass popularization of the project activities and for further dissemination of the results.

    Main results and core outputs

    The expected results include, but are not limited to:
    - Raising the awareness about the cultural and natural heritage in the Danube region;
    - Improved knowledge, skills and competences of all beneficiaries by a series of training events;
    Main outputs of the project:
    - 12 training events for use of drones, 3D scanning, 3D printing, 3D modelling;
    - Development of one joint strategy for preservation and promotion of the natural and cultural heritage in the Danube area;
    - Development and implementation of 5 tools for preservation and management of natural and cultural heritage and resources – network of hologram displays, which are showing the Danube heritage, 3D mapping events, exhibitions of 3D printed models from all beneficiaries, Information systems and VR/AR tools for display of the heritage;
    - Planning and hosting of 3 round tables for popularization of the project results;
    - Planning and hosting of 6 recreational events for the Danube (historical events, battles, etc.);

    Innovative character of the project idea

    The project will address the gap between the cultural institutions in the Danube region and the modern information and communication technologies. The use of the ICT technologies (3D scanners, 3D printers, hologram displays, 3D mapping, QR/NFC tags, etc.) will provide a modern look of the museums and will attract more visitors from the digital generations.
    The developed digital materials and contents will be available through on-line Internet platforms, mobile applications and on-site at the museums.
    The developed strategy for preservation and promotion of the natural and cultural heritage in the Danube area, trough digitalization activities and mass events, will be used as guideline for the sustainable attraction of tourists and will be provided to further museums in the Danube area, so that we can multiply the effects of the project and further disseminate its activities.
