    Needs and challenges
(Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)

It is estimated that by 2050 up to 70% of the Danube macro-region population will be living in urban areas. Urbanization affects health and well-being through factors such as exposure to pollutants, including noise, disasters, stressors and diseases, urban density, lack of physical activity and many others. Public services that pursue HEALTH, SOCIAL and nature-based innovations that are REDUCING ENVIRONMENTAL footprint contribute to an increase of people’s well-being and health.
In order to tackle this issue, new innovative services need to be developed through an integrated approach and thus quadruple-helix actors need to be mobilized, and their capacities build.
Project 4HealthyDanube supports the development of innovative social services able to better meet social needs and to provide services in general interest via participatory design of public services.
