    • keeping people healthy and active for longer with a positive impact on productivity and competitiveness
    • foster innovation generation framework in order to make the healthcare sector more sustainable and find new cures for health conditions
    • the healthcare sector has an important role to play in improving skills and creating jobs as it employs 1 in 10 of the most qualified workers in the EU
    • with a projected 45% increase in the number of people aged 65 and over in the next 20 years, financing rising healthcare costs and access to a dignified and independent life for the ageing population will be central needs with personalized solutions

    In Danube region there are territories that cover organizations, SMEs with excellent research products but without capacity of valorification, financing and market commercialization. At the same time there are regions with excellent capabilities of implementing active ageing and personalized therapies solutions. It is a specific need of connecting these capabilities

    Objectives
    (main and specific objectives to be achieved)

    The main objective of the action is to improve innovation framework conditions and capabilities in Danube region for health sector through creating a transnational innovation hub based on quadruple helix model (universities, research institutions/organizations; SME’s in the sector.
    Project mission is to provide long-term support to the ecosystem stakeholders and address key challenges facing Danube SMEs in this space: fine-tuning a business model, securing investments, engaging the demand-side and accelerating commercialization, getting legal and regulatory guidance to develop solutions in compliance with a multi-layer complex framework

    Main results and core outputs

    An transnational health innovation hub structure with advanced capabilities in collaborative R&D&I in silver economy & active ageing (personalized therapy, home care, remote care and social gerontology ) created. The main capability will be the open innovation platform with the following virtual facilities and applications: a) living lab; b) crowdsourcing tool ; c) crowdfunding tool and d) venture funding&structural funding tool. The project result can be extended at whole EU region in short time after the project ending.
