    Needs and challenges
(Needs, main problems or challenges to be addressed)

The Danube Region is an ecologically sensitive region with mountains, rural areas and untouched landscapes being under threat by modern life. To preserve the natural assets and endangered livestock and foster natural and cultural heritage, respective tourism products shall be developed - under strong conditions: additional tourism must not lead to further environmental damages. Additionally, preservation need is not only about natural sites, but also endangered species living in the area.
The development of H0eT – Horse 0 emission Tourism will be set up as a horse carriage driving programme and shall as such lead to the sustainable use and protection of natural and cultural assets based on eco-friendly tourism and “protection by usage”.

Innovative character of the project idea

The project idea had been judged "innovative" in the 1st DTP call already, nevertheless, there were application aspects to be improved. This is done now. Horse carriage driving can be offered as green transport for tourists and guests in heritage related destination areas or as active tourism product. - Horses and their historic stables are objects-to-be-protected themselves. This opens up a complete new field of development of services and tools in the leisure and tourism branch - with best environmental benefits.
