    There are many already existing cross-border cooperation’s structures dealing with tourism (European grouping of territorial cooperation, Euregions or similar structures), along the Danube area.
    Sustainable tourism development in the entire Danube region is a must and should integrate the experiences of the Western European countries on the upper Danube regarding the importance of a good balance between tourism, environment protection and economic growth.
    Project idea is to establish cooperation between existing cross-border cooperation’s structures (European grouping of territorial cooperation, Euregions or similar structures) dealing with tourism, along the Danube area.

    The project's main objective is to strengthen governance and build capacity development of existing cross-border cooperation’s structures dealing with tourism (European grouping of territorial cooperation, Euregions or similar structures) for the sustainable use and valorisation of the very rich and diverse natural and cultural heritage and resources of the Danube region.

    Main results and core outputs

    Overall, the main envisaged results are:
    - Set-up the Network of cross-border cooperation’s structures dealing with tourism (European grouping of territorial cooperation, Euregions or similar structures) in the Danube region
    - Improved frameworks, capacities and solutions for sustainable tourism development of existing cross-border cooperation’s structures dealing with tourism (European grouping of territorial cooperation, Euregions or similar structures) in the Danube region based on protection and sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage and resources in order to reap multiple benefits in terms of economic development, environmental protection and quality of life.

    Main foreseen activities

    - Establish Platform for exchanging experience and knowledge between existing cross-border cooperation’s structures dealing with tourism (European grouping of territorial cooperation, Euregions or similar structures);
    - Improve frameworks and develop joint and integrated solutions for sustainable tourism development within existing cross-border cooperation’s structures/areas dealing with tourism (European grouping of territorial cooperation, Euregions or similar structures);
    - Introducing new joint sustainable tourist activities in existing cross-border cooperation’s structures/areas;
    Potential project focus: One WP should focus on capacity building of existing cross-border cooperation’s structures dealing with tourism. Identification of best practices, policies, laws, and possibility to transfer knowledges; Second WP could focus on some specific activities related to natural and cultural heritage and resources of the Danube region. The third WP packages could focus on pilot project.
